Greater Port Macquarie is located midway between Sydney and Brisbane on the North Coast of NSW, only 260km north of Newcastle, 420km from Sydney and 510km from Brisbane.
Lighthouse Beach is 7 kilometres south of Port Macquarie, it's a 9 kilometre stretch of southeast-facing sand, home to a series of hospitable beach breaks.
The area enjoys the best climate in Australia, with the average temperature ranging from 7°C to 27°C.

The Lake Beach attracts younger children and those wanting quieter waters. A Surf Life Saving Club patrols a section of the beach near the lake entrance at Lake Cathie during the summer school holidays.
Whale Watching
Watch the whales from your front lawn! Between May and August Humpback whales travel up the east coast of Australia on their annual migration from their winter feeding grounds in Antarctica to their summer birthing area in the warmer tropical waters.
Fishing and Marinas
There is a full range of fishing opportunities - day or night. Freshwater river, break wall, blue water, beach and rock and Settlement Point picnic area is a safe spot for children. Port Marina in Port Macquarie has a boat ramp and a boat-hire service, as well as the usual berths, moorings, slipway, bait, tackle and fuel.

The region is most renowned for its Chardonnay, Semillon and substantial plantings of the fungus resistant, French hybrid Chambourcin grape variety.
